Meet Tom, the General Manager at The Ffolkes. Discover Toms journey through the businesses and discover the challenges he faces as general manager and how the people motivated him in his role.
There is a lot of food, Alice's omelettes in the morning, Cliff's pies... In all seriousness, it is the people, the energy of the role. I love everything about the role; it is high energy. It can be stressful, but it's a big problem-solving role and every day, it is a little bit different.
So many reasons! It's quite a young business, it is only four years old, and it's always changing, and we have got loads of opportunities to change things ourselves. We are trusted to crack on with it, and we have got a great team to do that, so we're always coming up with new ideas to push the business forwards.
It would defiantly be a mountain goat. We have a saying at The Ffolkes and it is 'as strong as goat' because goats endure, they can go up all the mountains, they are just a great animal.
The last 18 months, we have been in the covid world, so we have been adapting ever since the business is only four years old, but we have come out the back of it even stronger with our Street feast brand and everything going on. So you get daily struggles and yearly struggles and all that stuff, but that's part of the fun and the problem-solving.
My favourite holiday was Iceland; it was awesome. Waterfalls, different landscapes around every corner, I stayed in this little cabin in the middle of nowhere. When I go on holiday, I like to be anti-social.
